pre Orthodontics for Kids (Myobrace)

Dr. Cho is a certified Myobrace provider - offering early intervention orthodontics that addresses the root causes of crooked teeth in children, without traditional braces.

Myobrace is a preventive pre-orthodontic treatment system designed for children typically between the ages of 3 and 15. Rather than simply straightening teeth after they have grown in crookedly, Myobrace aims to address the underlying causes - poor muscle habits, incorrect breathing patterns, and improper tongue posture.

Dr. Jin-Ho Cho is a certified Myobrace provider with a special interest in early orthodontic intervention. He believes that correcting these habits during childhood can improve jaw development, facial growth, and long-term oral health - reducing or eliminating the need for traditional braces later.

The Myobrace system uses a series of removable intra-oral trainers that are worn for one to two hours during the day and while sleeping. These trainers gently work to correct breathing patterns, tongue position, and dental alignment over time.

If you've noticed your child breathes through their mouth, snores, has difficulty chewing, or has crowded or crooked teeth starting to emerge, it may be worth discussing Myobrace at an early consultation.

Treats Root Causes

Myobrace addresses poor oral habits (mouth breathing, incorrect tongue posture) that cause crooked teeth - not just the teeth themselves.

Start Early

The earlier poor oral habits are identified and corrected, the better the potential outcome. Treatment can start from age 3.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should my child be assessed for Myobrace?

Myobrace can be appropriate for children as young as 3–5 years old. Early assessment is valuable - the sooner poor habits are identified and corrected, the more beneficial the outcome for jaw development. Dr. Cho will advise whether your child is at an appropriate stage to begin.

How long does Myobrace treatment take?

Treatment duration varies depending on the child's age, the severity of habits to correct, and their compliance with wearing the trainer. Generally, children wear the trainer for 1–2 hours per day and overnight. Regular review appointments monitor progress.

Does my child need braces after Myobrace?

For many children, Myobrace treatment - particularly when started early - can significantly improve dental alignment and reduce or eliminate the need for braces. However, in more complex cases, some orthodontic treatment may still be recommended.
